If anti-smoking advocates are applying the same terror tactics to vaping and e-cigarettes as they are to the use of tobacco products, are they not missing out on a chance to save millions of lives and to improve the quality of life for millions of others?

Nicotine on its own is relatively safe

Paul Newhouse, a scientist at Vanderbilt University, believes nicotine, without its cancer-causing partners tar and 7,000 other chemicals, may be the perfect psychotropic drug.

For years he has been administering nicotine to patients suffering from Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s, and to chemotherapy and HIV-medicated patients who are experiencing brain fog. The results have been astounding. Nicotine acts as both an upper and a downer at the same time, simultaneously sharpening focus as it calms nerves.

Newhouse uses dermal patches to supply his patients with nicotine, and even those who have been on the drug for a year show no withdrawal symptoms when their trial period is over. “It’s a disservice to portray nicotine as being as addictive as heroin when it’s absolutely nowhere close.” he concludes.

The most effective way of delivering nicotine to the brain is by inhaling tobacco smoke. But, even though vaping doesn’t deliver nicotine quite as quickly as smoking tobacco does, it’s by far superior to nicotine patches or gum as a delivery mechanism.

What does all this mean for current tobacco smokers and nicotine vapers?

For one thing, vapers can safely continue to enjoy the benefits of nicotine for its attention-boosting yet calming properties. Who knew?! And if you’re a tobacco smoker, switching to nicotine vaping is definitely a good idea according to a recent Public Health England report.
